Telehealth Therapy Across Massachusetts & Vermont
Structured Therapy for Complex Situations
For couples, families, and individuals, when things have become difficult to hold together.
When things feel unstable — whether because of strain in your relationship, a family member in crisis, or a situation that keeps escalating despite your best efforts — it can become hard to think clearly, respond effectively, or know what to do next.
I work with couples, partners, and families navigating complex situations. The work is structured and direct: we identify what's actually driving the pattern, clarify what you have real influence over, and build changes that hold.

As Clinical Director of a residential behavioral health program, I bring real-world experience helping people navigate complex situations with clarity and structure.
You might be here because…
You and your partner keep having the same argument and nothing changes
Someone in your family is struggling and you're carrying most of the weight
Conversations keep turning into conflict, shutdown, or silence
You've lost yourself trying to keep a relationship or family stable
You're functioning on the surface, but things feel increasingly hard to manage
You've tried to handle this on your own, and it isn't working
How Therapy Helps Restore Stability
Clarify Patterns
We identify recurring dynamics and examine how they are sustained, so change becomes intentional rather than reactive.
Define Roles and Boundaries
We clarify responsibilities, reduce escalation, and create steadier interactions within the family or relationship.
Build Forward Movement
We develop practical next steps that restore stability over time, rather than relying on short-term crisis management.
This approach is designed for people seeking clarity, stability, and meaningful change — not just short-term support.
Areas of Focus
For couples and partners when the relationship has become a source of more stress than support — conflict, disconnection, or cycles that keep repeating.
For parents and families when someone in the system is struggling and it's affecting everyone — including the people who aren't the identified problem.
For individuals navigating loss, major transitions, and periods where life no longer feels stable or clear.
For individuals navigating relational stress, anxiety, life disruption, and situations that have become difficult to manage alone.
Maxwell Crystal, LICSW
I am a licensed therapist working with adults, partners, and families navigating addiction, anxiety, and complex relational dynamics.
My work focuses on helping people slow down reactive cycles, understand the patterns shaping their relationships and decision-making, and move toward greater stability and clarity.
In addition to my private practice, I serve as Clinical Director of a residential substance use treatment program, where I work closely with individuals and families navigating addiction and recovery. I previously worked as a hospice social worker, where I led a bereavement program supporting individuals and families through end-of-life care and complex grief.
Across these roles, I have supervised clinicians and contributed to the development of clinical programming in high-pressure treatment settings. This experience continues to inform a steady, structured approach to therapy.
My approach is thoughtful and structured. Rather than rushing toward quick solutions, the work focuses on developing a clear understanding of what is happening and building changes that are sustainable over time.
